A few years later, in 1932, Audi GmbH (which had been taken over by Motorenwerke J. S. Rasmussen AG), Horch AG and Wanderer Werke were united under one roof: Auto Union AG, based in Chemnitz (also known as Karl-Marx-Stadt from 1953 to 1990). These four companies, all with Saxon origins, form the four rings of the Audi emblem. Each ring represents one of the companies. After the Second World War, the company was re-established in Ingolstadt.
