Akrapovic Prototyping & Testing
Newly developed and handcrafted products are tested together with dozens of top racing teams on the most demanding racetracks around the world.
The development of a prototype begins with a 3D scan of the vehicle’s underbody. The 3D coordinates and precise measurements of the available space for the exhaust system are used to develop and optimize the layout. The design is then evaluated and refined to meet the demands of racing world champions.
Testing ensures not only a deeper sound and faster acceleration, but also the development of environmentally friendly exhaust systems.
The Harmony of Materials
The chemical composition and gas content of titanium, stainless steel, and aluminum alloys are continuously checked with the utmost care. The gas content is critical to the quality of cast titanium components. A team of highly qualified engineers conducts thorough hardness and micro-hardness tests, measures ductility and tensile strength, as well as plastic properties and formability. These ongoing processes ensure the highest quality for the final product and the use of the best possible materials.
Perfect Sound Engineering
A dedicated team of engineers spends countless hours in search of the perfect sound – one of the four most important elements in exhaust system design. On the one hand, the exhaust system must comply with sound regulations for homologation; on the other hand, a high-performance exhaust system is expected to produce a powerful and thrilling sound – one that you can recognize instantly.
At Akrapovič, specialized measuring techniques and equipment are used to capture and analyze sound both inside the cabin and at the tailpipes. The results are visualized on a sound tone map – which becomes the unique acoustic signature of each exhaust system. Based on this analysis, custom acoustic elements are calculated and integrated.
